Tracy Cairns – Intern Counsellor
Intern Counsellor
She/Her/Hers
Tracy Cairns works with teens and adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, shame, and the lingering effects of relational and developmental challenges. She has a particular interest in supporting individuals living with Complex PTSD and nervous system dysregulation, and is passionate about creating a space where clients can feel safe enough to explore life transitions, family changes, caregiving stress, grief, and recovery from abuse.
Many of the clients who come to Tracy have spent years coping quietly, appearing high-functioning while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or alone beneath the surface. She understands how important it is to honour the protective patterns that form in response to pain — while also creating space for new ways of being to emerge.
Her practice is trauma-informed, attachment-centred, and deeply relational. Tracy works collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for each person, inviting curiosity about what the body holds — the anxiety, the shutdown, the overwhelm — and how listening to these signals with compassion can open the door to meaningful healing.
Tracy values presence, attunement, and respect. She aims to offer a steady, grounded space where clients can begin to make sense of their stories, reconnect with who they are beneath old patterns, and build a greater sense of trust in themselves and their capacity for change.
Tracy is currently completing her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University.
“Something shifts when we listen to the body’s signals and the stories beneath our patterns. In therapy, we can pause, make space, and gently explore how your past has shaped you — not to stay there, but to understand it, integrate it, and move forward with greater clarity and self-trust. You are not alone.” ~Tracy
