Direct Billing — Make Counselling Easier

We know counselling is an investment — and life is expensive.

We offer direct billing to many insurers as a convenience to our clients. Direct billing allows us to submit claims on your behalf; however, coverage and reimbursement amounts are determined by your insurer, not by Hollyburn Support Services.

Direct billing isn’t available for every insurer or every plan, so please take a moment to read the information below before downloading a form. We’ve done our best to keep this simple and straightforward.

Know the Basics

Before requesting direct billing, here’s what’s helpful to know:

  • Direct billing is available for selected insurers and plans only
  • Not all insurance plans allow counsellor direct billing
  • We can direct bill one insurance provider per session
  • Direct billing claims are submitted and processed automatically
  • If a claim is declined or partially paid for any reason, the credit card on file will be charged automatically for the remaining balance
  • You remain financially responsible for any portion not covered by your plan

When we first set things up, we’ll attempt to submit a claim for your first session to make sure everything is working properly. If an error message comes back, we’ll email you to let you know.

After that, any follow-up with your insurer is up to you. This is standard industry practice and helps keep things moving smoothly without delays.

Look for your insurance provider in the sections below. If your insurer is listed, we can usually direct bill once the correct consent form is completed.

Insurers available through ProviderConnect include:
  • Green Shield Canada (GSC)
  • SSQ Insurance
  • Empire Life Insurance
  • MÉDIC Construction (covered under GSC)
  • RBC Insurance

Step 2: Choose Your Insurance Provider

For the following programs, please email db@hollyburn.ca to get set up:

  1. Autism Funding (AFU)
  2. BC Centre for Ability    
  3. Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP)    
  4. First Nations Health Authority (FNHA)
  5. Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)
  6. Physicians Health Program

* Each program has its own eligibility and authorization requirements.

In-Office Direct Billing Setup

Direct billing forms are also available in the office.

  • Forms can be completed manually
  • Insurance cards can be photocopied by your counsellor
  • Completed forms with a copy of the insurance card can be placed in the locked mailbox in the lobby.

Important Direct Billing Policies

  • We can only direct bill insurance for individuals who are listed on the policy and actively participating in sessions
  • We do not amend invoices to alter services, diagnoses, or session details for insurance purposes
  • Direct billing is provided as a convenience, not a guarantee of coverage

At Hollyburn, we genuinely care about your well-being and want you to get the support you need. If you have extended health coverage for counselling but don’t see your provider listed above and are unable to pay the full upfront cost, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we may be able to find a solution together.

We also offer low-cost counselling with intern counsellors. Please check with our Director of Counselling Services to explore your options.
