Jana Hruba is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and former police psychologist who specializes in supporting first responders, trauma recovery, and life transitions. During her seven years as a police psychologist in the Czech Republic, she supported first responders, their families, and victims and witnesses of crime. Since moving to British Columbia in 2015, Jana has continued to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship challenges, attachment concerns, and major life transitions.
Jana’s therapeutic approach integrates dynamic and attachment-based theories with a client-centered and strengths-based perspective, creating a supportive environment for clients to explore and overcome their challenges. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Charles University in Prague and a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Security Studies from the Police Academy in Prague. Jana has also completed specialized training in trauma work, occupational stress, group therapy, and victim support from the Czech Republic, USA, and Canada.
Jana provides counselling in English, Czech, and Slovak and is passionate about supporting first responders, members of the Czech and Slovak communities, newcomers, and individuals navigating the unique challenges of expat life and cultural transition.
