Tomi holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and brings a wealth of experience from her 20-year career in policing. After retiring from law enforcement, Tomi began working closely with families, particularly supporting First Responders and Veterans experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has also provided over two years of direct support and counseling to families dealing with parenting challenges, couples’ conflict, addiction, and the effects of acute mental health conditions.
Specializing in helping individuals and families navigate crises, loss, and trauma, Tomi is skilled at guiding clients through unexpected life changes. She has facilitated parent education groups and draws on attachment and family systems approaches in her practice. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Trauma-Informed Practice and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and she has received extensive training to enhance cultural safety and awareness.
Tomi has experience working with a diverse client population, including individuals who identify as Indigenous, Asian, Middle Eastern, and LGBT2QIA.
