Victoria Youn

Practicum Student

Victoria Youn is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and is providing counselling services at Hollyburn as an intern counsellor as part of her practicum. Victoria is a compassionate and culturally responsive counsellor who takes a client-centered approach to her work. She is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported in exploring their experiences.

Victoria brings over five years of experience supporting youth and families involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Through this work, she has developed a strong understanding of the complexities families may face, including systemic challenges, relational stress, and life transitions. She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals, youth, and families in navigating these experiences with care and empathy.

As a first-generation immigrant with lived experience across multiple countries, Victoria brings a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the complexities of navigating different cultural identities. She is attentive to the ways culture, identity, and systemic influences can shape mental health and well-being, and strives to provide inclusive and affirming care.

Victoria’s approach is grounded in the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. She integrates trauma-informed principles into her work, prioritizing safety, emotional regulation, and client readiness. She supports clients in exploring concerns such as stress, identity, relationships, and life transitions at a pace that aligns with their comfort and goals.
